socialized medicine

a man with insomnia and his wife with menopause go to a doctor. She writes them a prescription for the same medication.

First you have to go at 5am and stand in the line, or send a friend to stand for you. then according to your standing in the line, you get an appointment to come back to the doctor later in the day.  You show up early for your appointment time, along with the other 5 people who have 2:00 and wait.  As each person goes into see the doctor, they are given the name of the next person and they call that out as they come out of their visit with the doctor. If you get blood tests and there is a problem, they write your full name on the board.
Your neighbor is probably up there at the clinic, they read the board and tell you to go because you got a bad result.
Confidentiality does not seem to matter much in a town, where most know each other.

And you buy your drugs at the pharmacy. You just go in and ask for what you want and buy them, or say what condition you have and the pharmacist helps you pick you a good one.
Of course if you like a particular drug, you can go back and get more or buy yourself an injection.  But you could accidently give yourself an enlarged heart-like my uncle who kept giving himself injections that are for rare usages.

You don't have to show proof of anything, just ask for what you want. Drugs are cheap.
